CIS Approval!!

Yeah!! We received our letter of approval from CIS today!! Amazing turn around! We were told it would be approximately 4 - 8 weeks from the date they had all the information (application, home study and fingerprints). We had our fingerprints (last step) done last Monday, so they turned this letter around in 10 days! We have notarized this document and it will be off to KBS Dossiers today. We were thinking we'd be on the wait list by the first of the year and we may be on the wait list by some time next week! Thank you God!

Homeschool Day at the Heard Museum

Last Friday was Homeschool Day at the Heard Museum! The Heard Museum is a nature center up in McKinney. We'd been wanting to visit for a while now and this was the perfect day to do it! Homeschoolers got in at no charge and the day was gorgeous....nothing but sun and 70 degree temperatures. We walked through dinosaur valley, checked out the animals (those that hadn't gone in for winter) and then hiked through God's beautiful creation. We went through prairie, wetlands, swamp, forests. It was great fun and the girls had a blast. We were definitely tired when we got home :-)

A Lesson.......

Bethany and I went to see Disney's remake of "A Christmas Carol" this weekend. I thought it was really well done and..... Bethany kept her eyes closed through at least half of it :-) It definitely had some intense scenes. I still love the message of this movie. On the way home, I walked Bethany through the movie (since she missed half of it with her eyes closed). I didn't want her to be so distracted by the images that she missed the great message.

If, somehow, we could look into the future and see that tomorrow would be our last day here on earth, would we live today differently? Would we make different choices, love more intensely, laugh more often, give all we could, worry less? What a humbling thought, that we are not promised tomorrow and that we should live each day as it is, a gift from God, remembering his commandments, to love Him and love others.

Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of each day, may we live for you, in a way that honors and glorifies you every moment of the day. May we not wait for a moment that is not promised.

Halloween

Our first camp out with our new tent (and we chose Halloween night). We even had a full moon!

We roasted hot dogs and had smores and Halloween cupcakes!

After the sun went down, it was off to "trick or treat". We went to a neighborhood near by and the girls had a blast. All the families were out in their yards and there were kids galore!

Later that night, after the girls were in bed, John and I sat by the fire. We thought about how much John's Dad would have loved to have been there. He loved the outdoors and everyone knew Papaw for his great campfires. John's Dad passed away a year ago this Halloween. Hopefully we can make this a tradition in honor of him. We miss you.
